Theories on Memes

This post is going to be about a wholesome subject of Memes. Mostly used by generation to make jokes about the world around them. They also can hold a political power and help define peoples views through share-ability. 

Some contemporary meme genres are based off photographs from photoshop memes, stock photo memes, videos and fads.They are the innovations for creative outlet and they have developed in popular culture.

The memes that are fads tend to grow and become viral with the fast connection of communication (sharing) which has changed from word of mouth. People are deciding subconsciously what memes become viral the main factors developing meme culture is exposure and repetition. The mere-exposure effect where people develop preferences for familiar things, much like viruses or how brands use their logos to become noticed.

    


Alot of memes became popular because the general pubic were able to join in for example in the form of a video. Such as the Harlem Shake. The Harlem Shake allowed the general public and companies alike to join in with the viral trend. Above is a compilation of the Harlem Shake videos.


The use of memes which is a system of behaviour passed from one individual to another for example a text or photograph of humours nature that often goes viral and is spread across platforms with slight variations. Memes have been created and shared daily by many internet users.
In the past people were exposed to a one meme version for example jokes but compared to nowadays where users can scroll through Facebook, google with millions of memes readily available. Memes are now present in the general public’s day to day life rather
than sporadic entities but as adverts, texts and images
